29. St Mary's Catholic Church
Adelaide St
Father Paul Tissot consecrated St Mary's in 1872. It replaced an earlier wooden church built in 1858 which was then used for the first day school. The church was extended in 1885 and the majestic pipe organ installed in 1912. The church was again extended in 1936 and altered to face Adelaide Street.
